What is Stir It Up?

This website is a forum for students to share their experiences in a national student effort to take control of food services on their campuses. Our goal is to raise standards in the food service industry for workers through student support as part of a comprehensive effort to increase sustainability in campus food service. And for this to happen, we believe that it's important for progressive students to position themselves so that they can influence campus food service decisions. What is UNITE HERE?

UNITE HERE is a labor union that represents more than 250,000 workers throughout the U.S. and Canada who work in the hospitality, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, laundry, and airport industries.

Our top priority as a union is organizing the unorganized, and student support is invaluable in the fight for economic justice.
